How do I send a card?

To send a card, first go to this page:
AngelEyes Card Shoppe.
There are lots of categories to choose from. Once you've chosen your card, click the circle or the # under the card (picture)that you want to send. If you wish to see the full size of the card, click on the thumbnail image, or the underlined writing below the card. This will link you to the actual size of the image, so you can view the size of the image your recipient will receive. In addition to selecting a graphic, we also have features which allow custom design of cards - poems, music, personal messages, backgrounds and the "Send Later" function which you will find on the Preview Page.

Then completely fill out the form below or on the compose page. When you are done, click preview card to make sure everything looks right. BE sure and double check the email addresses, if it is entered wrong, the card will not be delivered.(You would be surprised at often this happens) When entering in your email and the recipient's email address make sure not to add any extra spaces, as this will throw off the entire system and will give you an error message. Just hitting the spacebar once after writing the email address can cause an error. If you get an error message, it's no big deal.

Just hit the Back button on your browser, correct the error and go on to the next step. If everything is correct click "Send This Card". If not click "Edit This Card" on the preview page ~ make the changes and then send your card! (Sometimes, when using the Microsoft Internet Explorer browser, all your card information may be erased if you edit a card. This does not appear to happen on Netscape)

Once you send your card, you can get a Free Phone Card, just click the Link provided on the "Sent Page" for instructions...
* Note: As soon as the card is picked up, You will receive an e-mail letting you know! Sometimes due to Holidays. etc there may be a delay in recieving your notice. It is very important to ensure that you have entered your email address correctly and the recipients email address correctly.

How do I pick up a card?

When someone sends you a card you will receive an e-mail notification letting you know your card number and the address of where to pick it up from. There is also a quick pick up address on the email notice that you receive. You can use it also to pick your card up. If you're still having trouble finding the pick up page AngelEyes Card Shoppe, it's on the main page of AngelEyes, then enter your card number in the box and click the button.

I can't see the card or image

There could be several reasons for this. You may be trying to view the card at Peek times on the Internet. If it is a java card, they do take longer to load, the same with animated cards so you may want to give it a few minutes to see if it loads for you. Also being human, I do make mistakes.

If you choose a card and an image is Not showing, Never Send It, as the person you send it to will not have an image either, please notify me so that I can fix it. Also if your cache gets too full it can prevent you from seeing the applets. See Section on Clearing or Purging Cache.. and on Java Cards and Problems.

For the best browsing experience try downloading the most current stand-alone free version ofNetscape or Internet Exporer

Before dowloading any program, you need to make sure that your computer is compatible for the upgrade....(i.e. memory, file size, version of Windows, etc.) You can always contact the manufacturer of your computer to find out.

Cards and Pages won't load or are Slow in loading

A lot of computer memory is used when viewing graphics especially cards since you have the music file, backgrounds, etc. You can make more memory available by closing other programs or web pages. Don't forget to clean out your temporary internet files or cache files on a regular basis and restarting your computer.

If you are having problems with a page loading for you, it could be a page that is more graphically intense that some of the others, your modem and connect speed will also effect how fast a page will download for you. The Internet does have peek times when it is extremely busy, this can also effect how fast a page will download for you.

Java Cards and Problems

AngelEyes Card Shoppe offers Java postcards (i.e. Lake Reflections, Snow, Water and Rain effects on cards). These cards can only be viewed with browsers that are Java enabled. If you have a Java enabled browser and still cannot view the Java cards, you might have to change the Java settings on your browser.

If you still are unable to view the Java cards you can click on the reload or refresh button on your browser menu, this usually always works.

The recipient of a Java card must also have a Java enabled browser to view the postcard that you sent.

To be Java enabled, you must have one of the latest browser versions. You can download that from the Netscape, Microsoft or AOL sites. Please confirm with these organizations that your computer is equipped to take the download, e.g. memory etc. As of this writing, Web TV is not Java enabled, so no one on Web TV will be able to see the Java applets.

Why can I not hear the music?

AngelEyes midis are best heard with the latest version of "Crescendo".. This could be one of several reasons. Some of the midi files are large and take time to load, please make sure you have given it enough time. Also remember on the "Preview Page" that the midi is usually the last thing to load so again, please give it time so that you can hear your selection. I may have made a mistake in typing in the midi information, in which case it will tell you that it Can Not load the midi. If you would please drop me note informing me of which midi, I will get it fixed ASAP...Your browser may not programmed for midi files; the sender forgot to check off the music selection; your sound system is turned down; you have another program connected to your sound card. To hear a midi file (music) the receipient must have a sound card, speakers and driver software.

There are free downloads available for Microsoft Media Player and Crescendo

I sent a card but they didn't receive a notice.

If your recipient didn't receive the card it is either due to slow connections on the Internet or the more common answer ~ the e-mail address you wrote in was incorrect. So before sending that card make sure all the addresses are correct. A added space or extra letter will prevent the card from being sent...

Clearing or Purging Cache

The procedure depends on which Web Browser you are using.

If you are an AOL user and your software does not use Microsoft Internet Explorer:

Click on "Preferences" under the members menu at the top of the screen
Click "WWW", then go to the Advanced Button
Click the "Purge Cache" button

If you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer as your Web Browser:

Click on "Tools"
Go to "Internet Options"
Then the "General" tab folder
In the section "Temporary Internet Files" click on delete files,
this will bring up a small pop up box and also give you the opportunity to delete your "Offline Content" in Temporary File Folder. You can check it or not check it. I always clear both at the same time...

If you are using Netscape as your Web Browser:

Click on "Edit"
Go to "Preferences"
click on the "Advanced +" then "Cache"
in the section click on "Clear Memory Cache" and if you want to you can also click on "Clear Disk Cache" Then click ok to close out of the Preferences....

AOL Help

All graphics and cards are best viewed with AOL 4.0. If you have a "lower version you might want to upgrade" If you are not sure of what version of AOL you are using:

Click on "Help" on the top tool bar
Click on about "America Online" ~ if it refers to 3.0 for Windows then you are using the 16 bit version (you will not be able to display java cards with this version) ~ if it refers to 4.0 for Windows 95 then you are using the 32 bit version (this version will support java and other multimedia applications) "You can download a Preview of AOL 5.0...." but you need to make sure that your computer can take the upgrade (i.e. memory, file size, version of Windows, etc.) You can always contact the manufacturer of your computer to find out if your computer is compatible for the upgrades...

If email notice of the postcard you sent did not get to the recipient, It could be that an error occured in entering the recipient's email address or that the AOL recipient user may not have enabled their email to receive mail you or others not using AOL (email enabled to receive from AOL users only). Settings for this can be changed in the Mail Controls....(Also remember to type in the Full Email address (i.e. address@whichever.com)

If you need to turn off the graphics compression in the AOL Browser:
Go to the toolbar, click on "Members"
Click "Preference", click "WWW" or you may have an icon (world globe)
Dialog box appears, click the "Web Graphics" tab
Question appears "Do you want Web Graphics to be compressed?"
Check off if you want compression, if you do not want compression leave check box blank, if it is checked you can uncheck.

For the best browsing experience try downloading the most current stand-alone free version ofNetscape or Internet Exporer

WEB TV Help

If You Are Having Problems Sending Cards or Viewing Web Sites, these could be some of the reasons. Internet Explorer and Netscape Browsers read "marked up" or coded pages (usually HTML but not always) that reside on servers and interpret the coding into what we see as a Web page. If you cannot view the Web Page, it is the way your WebTv browser is interpreting the Web page's code. Not all CGI or Postcards scripts are written to be compatible with WebTv. If you cannot view the Web Page or use the Postcard script with your WebTv Internet Terminatl you might want to contact your WebTv manufacturer and request an upgrade
Web TV does not support Java applets. So, anyone using Web TV will not be able to view our Java applets, we have provided Snow Globes and there are some Lake animation cards located in the Animation Shoppes that you should be able to view...

Please feel free to email me with any problem you have
encountered so that I may fix it if possible. If you
can supply the name of the shop (I.E. Birthday, Quick Cards,
etc.) or the name of the midi, it would be a big help to me.
Thank you so much....
